Description
This Willys runs, drives, and stops great. I think it would probably be able to make a longer trip. However, it is 54 years old, so no guarantees.
The engine is the overhead cam Tornado 230. It was rebuilt recently. This engine is unique and gets lots of comments from gearheads. It has plenty of power and great torque.
The body is good condition, but there is some rust mainly on the drivers side (see the photos). Floors are solid. The paint is fading and cracking in places. It has classic year-of-manufacture Texas plates from 1962.
Known problems: leaking timing chain cover, noisy transfer case, sloppy steering. The tires have plenty of tread, but are starting to crack. I am including the timing chain cover gasket and a rebuild kit for the steering box.
Spare parts: Pair of Cutlass hubs, one partial Warn hub, exhaust manifold, water pump (NOS), fuel/vacuum pump, oil pump, timing chain, steering box kit (sector shaft, bushings, bearings, gaskets, etc.), timing cover gasket, differential gaskets, valve cover gasket, chrome trim pieces, miscellaneous small parts. I also have an old Tornado 230 engine block if you are interested.
Manuals: Service Manual for Jeep Utility Vehicles, Service Manual for Tornado 230 (including technical service bulletins), Parts Manual from Willys Overland (good for finding part numbers)
